Book Review by Adi Ti

Mother Mary Comes To Me by Arundhati Roy

To love, to be loved…🖤
The chaos and beauty of love. 😇

I just stumbled on this old quote while reading about the new book  Mother Mary Comes To Me by Arundhati Roy, and have been stuck for a bit, wondering why we humans screw up so badly, like really this badly.

I’ve been perplexed even with the idea of it for a very long time now and have been quite vocal about it too…so, once again, 🤷‍♀️🤷

Why people?
Why the hell is love always the one thing everyone wants to police?

While hatred walks free and even celebrated..yeaaaah, hate gets platforms to perform and hate gets garlanded & worshipped in this country. Just look at BJP happily running the show for two terms just purely on HATE AND DIVISIVE politics.🤦‍♀️

Whereas love? There are always rules, morality lectures, shame, and judgments.
Love is constantly judged, no matter what.

In fact, love is condemned and bloody attacked in this gross society that we’re rapidly regressing to.

Who made these rules? And why do we still bow down to them and feel feudal?
We’re human bodies, human hearts, human minds. Love is science…neurons, chemistry, evolution or if you want to call it magic, fate, whatever works for you.

Love is the most natural thing we have, an asset! Yet it gets exploited because society keeps trying to shrink it into cages. Why? Because love scares the hell out of people who feed on hate, culture, conventions, and the rulebook.

I keep saying this to people around..
To love openly, unapologetically, and authentically is rebellion.
To choose connection over convention..
To follow feelings over fear…
To amplify love instead of shrinking it. Yep. That’s real rebellion. Be limitless, live, and especially, love freely.

And that’s what makes hate look pathetic, small, and irrelevant.
So, please stop apologizing for love and start living it fully, messy, raw, fearless, or however the heck you want it to be!
It’s all yours!

Because in the end, to me, I would rather leave behind a world overflowing with love than one choking on hate. ❤️ Love it is, any day!
