D C Kizhakemuri Foundation
The
DCK Foundation is a tribute to D C Kizhakemuri who
gave Malayalam publishing a new meaning. The foundation aims to do
what D C Kizhakemuri did - enrich the world of letters and foster
socio-economic growth. The foundation has a Training Facility Center
D C School of Management and Technology
- and a Publication Division.
Some of the major projects conceived by DCKF are listed below.
Best Library Award An annual award of Rs.33,333/- is constituted by the Foundation
for the Best Library in Kerala, for promoting rural libraries to inculcate
the habit of reading among the youth in rural Kerala.
Books for Neo-literates:
The Publication Division of D C Kizhakemuri Foundation brings
out a series of books for neo-literates in Kerala, in association
with the Kerala State Literacy Mission. This project, aims to render
literate the poor senior citizens of Kerala who did not had the opportunity
so far to do so. As a part of this project, DCKF prints, publishes
and distributes books freely among Neo-literates. It was D C Kizhakemuri
who brainchilded the idea of bringing about 100% literacy in 100 days.
Vayanakoottam
Vayanakoottam is a book club intended for school children
to improve their reading habit. The members of Vayanakoottam Book
Club in each school are entitled to a set of books from D C books
every month. For that, all the members have to do is, collect a meager
sum of money from each of the members. The books are circulated and distributed among
members at the end. |
